Little people ask big questions. As everyday routines return in August, bringing new beginnings with kindergarten and school, it's time for learning new and exciting things.
Children's nonfiction books are a wonderful way to nurture curiosity and foster a love of learning. Whether your child is fascinated by nature, the human body or animals, you can find a book that brings knowledge to life in an accessible and engaging way for young readers.
We've gathered a selection of Gyldendal's beautifully illustrated nonfiction books here. Go explore!

Rose and Villy, ages 4 and 3, share a room – but not just any room. At the heart of their space stands a beautiful bunk bed, ready to sleep the two of them, plus a guest by using the pull-out bed under the lower bunk.
The room breathes with intentional space, and a small table and stool set offers the perfect spot for creative projects. The open floor becomes a canvas for building blocks, toy cars, or dance sessions and the little nook is perfect for reading and relaxing.
Rose & Villy's room is a great example of choosing less but choosing well – where every piece serves a purpose, quality trumps quantity, and two little ones have everything they need to dream, play, and grow together.

The Perch bunk bed was added just recently, and has made a huge difference to the room: It gives each child their own little space in the shared space, plus has freed up space to play on the floor.
A rug from Mini Knots adds a softness to the room. Explore our selection of rugs here.

A rattan shelf is placed next to the bunk bed, and works as a small bed side table. Books for night time lie here – Rose & Villy get to choose 1-2 books each night before bedtime.
Also seen here: The 'Casa Aqua' block puzzle, and a pink flower candle holder used together with a small blue house decorative figure.

The green table and chair set and the pink mushroom lamp match the beautiful wallpaper from William Morris.
A large raffia Circus basket is used to store toys. Above, on the wall, hangs 3 papier-mâché masks – a Red Panda, a Fox and a Bear.

Current reads with 'Pindsvinet Pirke' from Gyldendal lie on the colourful rug from Mini Knots. Find a similar one here.
"Growing up, I shared a room with my brother, and I loved building forts and creating small universes for myself that were completely my own. I would love to create that same opportunity in my children's rooms as well."
– Josefine, Rose & Villy's mom

The small table and chair set is a perfect place for creative projects and reading books. Seen here: 'Dyrenes Rekordbog', a raffia basket and a small pink mushroom lamp.

'Se, hvad jeg kan!' from Gyldendal on the beautiful wooden side table/box designed by Charlotte Perriand and produced by Cassina.

A vintage blue tote hangs on the cabinet. On top, more books are stored in an Aykasa box, and next to it; two large and one small colourful suitcases are used for more storage.

More books, including 'Vilde Historier fra hele verden' and 'Den Fantastiske Bus' are stored on and inside the Boby Trolley designed by Joe Colombo.

A peek inside the educational book 'Din Fantastiske Krop', with beautiful illustrations by Kamilla Wichmann. The pink mushroom lamp adds a soft light during day and at night time.

Books everywhere in the house. Here, 'Omar & Dagmar får noget til at gro' on a beautiful wooden stool, designed by Charlotte Perriand.

The vertical ladder saves space in the room, while allowing the pull out bed underneath the lower bunk to be pulled out.
